Dr. Anup K Pujari, IAS superannuated as Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise, where he was involved in policy making at the highest level, in end of January 2016. He is a 1980 batch officer of Karnataka cadre. He has served as the Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and held additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Steel & CMD, Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL). Dr. Pujari with his sound knowledge of economics has expertly handled Foreign Trade as the Director General of Foreign Trade, for which generalist IAS officers usually bank on trade service officers blindly. Dr. Pujari has the experience of public sector management in the State of Karnataka for several years. His notable postings include Principal Secretary, IT & Biotechnology; Managing Director, Karnataka Food & Civil Supplies Corporation; Registrar, Bangalore University; Addl. Commissioner, Commercial Tax; Addl. Secretary, Finance; Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kanada District & Shimoga District. Dr. Pujari has done Ph.D in Economics from Boston University and holds a post graduate degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics.

An MBA from University of Oregon, USA and Doctoral Degree in Applied Economics from the University of Bombay. He has been Visiting Professor to the University of Rhode Island, USA and IIT, New Delhi. Dr Juneja has written extensively and recently authored ‘SMEs in Asian Region- Harnessing the Growth Potential’ and ‘Policy Guidebook for SME Development in Asia and the Pacific’ edited and published by United Nation ESCAP.
